Over 30 years in municipal government with licenses and certifications in water operations, road construction, and public works.
A reputation as a trusted public servant ensuring the safety of customer's drinking water and managing taxpayer’s money prudently.
Managing large infrastructure projects and working with developers, engineers, and contractors to make sure projects are done on time and on budget.

Jeff Lane is seeking the Republican nomination for Commissioner of the Southern District of Henry County. Jeff is a dedicated public servant who has spent over 30 years serving dozens of municipalities and communities in and around Henry County, most notably the towns of Spiceland and Knightstown. With licenses and certifications in water operations, road construction, and public works, Jeff has devoted his career to ensuring the public health, safety and welfare of the communities he works for.
Jeff has spent the bulk of his career as the Superintendent for the Town of Spiceland. In his role as Town Superintendent Jeff has been heavily involved and, in many cases, led major projects for the town. Some of the notable projects that Jeff is proud to have been an instrumental part of are the multi-million dollar I-70/SR 3 water expansion project and water tower, the historic water connection between Spiceland and the City of New Castle, and the construction of a water pressure booster station at that interconnection. These projects combined have brought millions of dollars of investments to Spiceland and Henry County and have ensured plentiful, safe, and reliable water to the residents and businesses in and around Spiceland.
Jeff was also tasked by the Spiceland Town Council to work with the necessary engineers and attorneys on an annexation project that would ultimately more than double the size of Spiceland, making Spiceland the second largest municipality in Henry County. This annexation also led to a substantial expansion of Spiceland’s electric utility, which was also managed by Jeff. Every road project in Spiceland for the last 20 years has been overseen by Jeff, whether it was construction of new roads, helping prepare grants, finding innovative ways for maintaining existing roads, or personally filling pot holes. Jeff has worked diligently with the elected Council and Clerk-Treasurer to make sure that every tax dollar spent will give the citizens of Spiceland the best return on investment.
Jeff is no stranger to executive level decision making, having served the past twelve years, as an Indiana Municipal Power Association (IMPA) Commissioner for the town of Spiceland, with the last 8 years being on the Executive Board of Commissioners. Jeff has been a part of decisions that have created millions of dollars of investment, millions of dollars of savings for electric customers, and helped direct the future of all 61 IMPA communities across the state. Jeff has also been honored to personally speak publicly on behalf of IMPA from small town council meetings to testifying before the state Senate.
Jeff also has been known for his active racing career over the past twenty five plus years. Jeff has captured multiple track championships at local tracks such as Mt. Lawn Speedway, Anderson Speedway and Montpelier Speedway. He has also traveled all over the midwest and southern states competing. The combination of pure passion, talent, sportsmanship and a clear technical understanding of the sport, Jeff is well known and respected among his series and competitors.
Jeff is a 1982 graduate of Knightstown High School and has continued to maintain his certifications in: Distribution System Certification (DSM), Pressure Filter Certification (WT3), American Water Works Association Short Courses, and Construction Inspection & Public Work.
Jeff has been married to his lovely wife Linda for over 35 years and they are the proud parents of twin boys, Kelton and Colby age 29, as well as four grandchildren. Both boys, along with their families reside in Henry County.
Jeff has been tried and tested as a public servant for decades, and has become an essential and trusted manager for the committees he serves. If elected Jeff will bring that same level of experience and public trust to the office of Henry County Commissioner.
